Anti-Gravity Kokedama was a piece introduced by GreenCapsule in 2018, combining the traditional Japanese kokedama with a new type of glass miniature landscape.

By adding a small figurine to the kokedama, turning it into a little green planet and placing it inside a sealed test tube, the moss is provided with an environment similar to a greenhouse, exhibiting an ecosystem in an "anti-gravity" form inside the tube.

Everyone’s growing environment is different, so you must learn to observe.

For plants, when they are newly brought home they usually need some time to adapt to the new environment — the more the environment fits their living habits, the faster they adapt.

Observe the plant’s changes more often; taking photos to record them is also a good method to compare differences after a period of cultivation.

  • Moss breathes and absorbs water through its leaves, so use misting to let it absorb moisture.

  • Although humidity changes are low inside the test tube and moisture is less likely to evaporate, it is also recommended to open the cap occasionally for about 10 minutes to ventilate, and lightly replenish water, allowing the moss to slowly adapt to the sealed environment inside the test tube.

  • Internal temperature is directly affected by the external environment, so when there is a large temperature difference between inside and outside, a lot of condensation will appear. Avoid locations with high temperatures (above 30°C) or places of sudden change such as direct sunlight or directly facing an air-conditioner vent.

  • Remember never to add too much water (so there is water flowing inside the test tube); this will make the moss easily moldy or even rot. If the moss turns light green, be sure to mist it. When moss is dry it turns light green and enters dormancy to conserve moisture; misting will return it to bright green.

  • If conditions allow, the recommended water sources are:filtered wateror tap water that has been left to stand overnight (to dissipate chlorine/fluorine).

  • Weak sunlight (diffused light) is sufficient; avoid intense sun exposure. Optimal growth temperature is between 15°C–25°C, survival temperature between 0°C–40°C. (Related article on light:https://www.greencapsulehk.com/post/ep-04-sunlight-full-partial-shade

  • With proper care it can live for several years or more.
